How to Reset Link’s Items & Hearts in Sharp Ocarina (Zelda ROM Hacking Guide)

If you’re creating a custom Ocarina of Time ROM hack and want Link to start with 3 hearts and no inventory, Sharp Ocarina makes it simple. After you’ve created your .z64 ROM project, you can fully customize Link’s starting state — from hearts and rupees to inventory and equipment. If you haven’t got to that point yet we cover that in our previous tutorial “Getting started with Zelda Ocarina of Time Modding”.

🎮 Getting Started: File Creation Editor

Go to Tools → File Creation Editor. This powerful menu allows you to define exactly what Link starts the game with.

  • 2nd box = Master Sword
  • 3rd box = Biggoron Sword

Other Equipment: Shields, tunics, and boots follow the same checkbox system.
